Sphynx Cat Breeding: Genetics, Ethics & Hairless Cat Programs

Breeding Sphynx cats is both an art and a science—and at Purradox Sphynxery, we’re deeply committed to doing it right. This category covers the ethical, health-conscious, and purpose-driven approach we take to breeding healthy, social, and structurally sound Sphynx kittens. Whether you’re a future breeder, a curious adopter, or a cat enthusiast, these blog posts offer a behind-the-scenes look at how responsible Sphynx breeding works.

You’ll learn about our three adoption programs (Signature, Prestige, and Elite), our approach to genetic health screening, and what it takes to produce confident, affectionate, and beautiful hairless cats. We also dive into topics like HCM screening, dominant blue eye (DBE) genetics, Elf and Dwelf breed distinctions, cleft palate prevention, and how we select pairings to maintain diversity and quality in our lines.

Purradox Sphynxery is a TICA-registered cattery, and we only breed from FIV/FeLV-negative, yearly HCM-screened lines with complete veterinary support. Our kittens are never sold before 14 weeks and always go home altered, microchipped, and vaccinated.

Sphynx Cat Breeding FAQS

Ethical breeders prioritize health, socialization, and breed integrity. At Purradox, we screen all cats for HCM yearly, perform genetic testing, and never allow breeding of unfit cats. Kittens stay until 14–16 weeks and leave fully vetted.

While we focus on the Sphynx breed, we also breed Elf Sphynx as part of our Exotic Breeds Program. These cats are carefully selected for their curled ears and balanced structure.

  • Signature – Old-style conformation, standard colors.

  • Prestige – More wrinkles, shorter muzzles, standout features.

  • Elite – Includes DBE/odd eyes, rare conformation, highest expression of breed type.
