We understand that choosing the right cat for your family is a personal and often overwhelming decision. As a reputable breeder and advocate for the Sphynx breed, we are dedicated to transparency, education, and ethical practices. Our FAQ page is meant to be a resource for anyone curious about these unique and loving cats. Whether you’re considering adopting from Purradox Sphynxery or are simply a fan of hairless breeds, our goal is to provide accurate and up-to-date information to help you care for your cat with confidence.
To adopt a kitten, start by filling out our Kitten Inquiry Form on the website. After review, we’ll reach out to discuss available or upcoming litters and guide you through next steps, including placing a $100 Priority List fee to reserve early selection access. Once a match is made, a 30% deposit secures your kitten. We keep you updated through the entire process with weekly pictures or videos of your kitten until pickup day so you get to watch your baby grow. |
Our Priority List is for serious adopters who want first choice of available kittens. With a $100 fee, you get early access to upcoming litters before the public. Priority members also receive exclusive updates and access to our Member Zone to view kittens before they are released publicly. |
The $100 Priority List fee is non-refundable. It ensures we only place kittens with committed families and helps us provide a streamlined experience. You can remain on the list until you find your perfect match. |
A 30%Â non-refundable deposit is required to officially reserve your kitten once selections are open. This deposit goes toward the total adoption fee and guarantees your kitten is held just for you. The deposit is non-refundable.

Priority List members get early access to select their kitten inside the Priority Member Zone, typically around 5–7 weeks of age, once personalities are emerging. Public selection (if kittens remain) opens after that. We offer photos, videos, and FaceTime calls to help you choose. You can also follow us on Facebook and TikTok for weekly kitten updates. |
For the health and safety of our cats and home, we do not offer in-home visits. Instead, we provide detailed videos, photos, and FaceTime calls to help you connect with your kitten before adoption. |
Every Purradox Sphynx kitten goes home between 14–16 weeks old with: 2+ FVRCP vaccines, microchip, spay/neuter, deworming, vet paperwork, health certificate, a goody bag (with sample food, outfit, toys), and lifetime support. Plus 30 days free Trupanion Insurance to help with any issues that may arise as your kitten settles into their new home. Keeping pet insurance on your Sphynx is not a requirement but is highly recommended.
View the Adoption Process Page. View the our Health Screening Guide for Adopters. |
If your preferred kitten type, gender, or color isn’t available, we’ll keep your name on the Priority List for the next matching litter. We have upcoming litters announced frequently and can guide you toward expected options. View our Kings and Queens or our Sphynx Programs. |
The full adoption process varies based on kitten availability and age. Kittens stay with us until 14–16 weeks old for full vetting. If you’re adopting a young kitten, your wait may be 6–12 weeks after reservation. The variation depends on the kittens growth rate. Kittens grow and gain weight at different rates and some kittens take longer to reach the minimum weight requirement for spay/neuter surgery. Sending each kitten home already spayed/neutered is a priority as an ethical breeder. This go home age also allows kittens to fully wean from their mother and receive 2 FVRCP vaccinations so they can have necessary protections leaving the cattery.

Absolutely! Many families adopt littermates or a kitten + a rescue companion from our domestic cat rescue, Hearts to Homes. If you adopt a rescue cat at the same time as your Sphynx kitten, we cover the adoption fee for the rescue cat. If you adopt a second Sphynx at from our cattery, you receive a $200 discount! Kittens generally do better when they have a friend. It’s someone to play and cuddle with while you are at work or running errands. |
We do not offer breeding rights. All kittens are placed as pets only and are spayed or neutered before going home. Our mission is to preserve and protect the breed through ethical, health-focused breeding.
We may occasionally offer kittens only to trusted ethical catteries we communicate with regularly. |
Occasionally, we retire adult Sphynx cats and offer them to loving pet homes. These cats are fully vetted, affectionate, and ready to enjoy life as pampered companions. Contact us for availability. |
Availability changes weekly. Visit our Available Kittens page to see current options or join our Priority List to access kittens before they’re posted publicly. |
We typically have planned litters throughout the year, with kitten availability every 1–3 months. Joining the Priority List is the best way to get notified first when new kittens arrive. |
Wait times vary based on your preferences (color, gender, ear type). Some families adopt within a month, while others choose to wait for a specific kitten. Priority members are matched faster and always get first access. |
First, complete our Kitten Inquiry Form. If approved, you’ll be invited to join our Priority List by submitting a $100 fee. This gives you early access to upcoming kittens and priority selection. |
Yes! We list expected pairings, due dates, and anticipated traits inside the Member Zone for Priority List members. This includes DBE litters, Elf kittens, and rare colors expected in upcoming litters. |
No. If you pass on a litter, your place on the Priority List remains intact. You can wait as long as you’d like for the perfect kitten match. |
We do not take reservations before birth, but Priority List members are matched shortly after kittens reach 5–7 weeks and personalities begin to emerge. You’ll receive updates and have early choice. |
Occasionally, we’ll have kittens become available due to family timing or travel issues. Priority List members are offered those kittens first. Public availability is rare — most are reserved in advance. |
We notify Priority List members in the order their fee was received. You’ll receive an email invitation to view available kittens and schedule a FaceTime or photo/video review to make your pick. |
Litters are planned 3–6 months in advance. In the Member Zone, you’ll find details on breeding pairs, due dates, and expected colors or traits. Some families wait for very specific lines or programs like DBE. |
Yes! On your application, you can specify preferences like color, gender, or personality. We use this to help match you to future litters or notify you when a kitten becomes available that matches your goals. |
Yes. All adopters sign a legally binding Pet Adoption Agreement. It outlines health guarantees, spay/neuter terms, rehoming policies, and care requirements to ensure the safety and well-being of our kittens. It also protects both you and Purradox by completely outlining expectations ahead of time. |
The 30%Â reservation deposit is non-refundable. It holds your kitten and removes them from the available list. We only accept deposits from approved homes and are happy to apply it to another kitten if needed before go-home day. |
Yes. We provide a two-year genetic health guarantee for life-threatening congenital defects. If confirmed by a licensed veterinarian, we offer a replacement kitten or another resolution as outlined in the contract. |
All kittens are spayed or neutered before going home. We do not offer breeding rights. This policy supports ethical breeding, prevents backyard breeding, and protects the integrity of the Sphynx breed. |
Per our contract, all kittens must be returned to Purradox Sphynxery or rehomed with our written approval. We have a lifelong commitment to our kittens and will assist in finding a suitable new home. |
Yes. The agreement includes a requirement to continue appropriate veterinary care, including vaccines and wellness checks. Your kitten’s health starts here, but must be continued through responsible care. |
No. All kittens are adopted as pets only and are altered before leaving. We do not allow our kittens to be used for breeding under any circumstance. Violations of this policy are enforced contractually. |
In most cases, yes—if the switch occurs before go-home day and the kitten is not already committed. We understand preferences may change and are happy to work with you if circumstances shift. |
While we match kittens to families carefully, personality is not guaranteed. Every kitten is a living being that develops over time. However, we provide extensive support and guidance to ensure a successful transition. |
We raise our kittens on Hill’s Science Diet Kitten dry food and feed wet food 2–3 times per day. This balanced formula supports their high metabolism and sensitive digestive systems. |
We recommend keeping dry food available at all times, and offering wet food two to three times daily. Sphynx kittens burn more calories due to their hairlessness and active personalities. |
Yes, at least for the first few weeks. Sudden diet changes can cause GI upset. You’ll receive samples of the food we use, and if you choose to switch, please do so gradually over 7–10 days. Keep your kitten on a probiotic to help with transition. |
We don’t feed raw or grain-free diets at Purradox, but we respect informed choices made in consultation with a veterinarian. If you choose a different diet, please ensure it meets AAFCO standards for kittens. |
Kittens are started with non-clumping litter for safety during early stages, then transitioned to Tidy Cats clumping litter as they grow. This helps avoid accidental ingestion during play and keeps the area clean. |
Yes, but do so gradually by mixing the old and new litter over several days. Avoid heavily scented or dusty litters that can irritate eyes or skin. Look for unscented clumping clay or natural litters that are low-dust. |
We use traditional open litter boxes during training, then transition many kittens to the Litter-Robot once they reach 2.5 lbs. Your kitten will be comfortable using either option in your home. We recommend using either a Litter-Robot or a Stainless Steel Litter Box. |
Nursing moms and kittens are supported with Kitty Bloom supplements for immune health, bone development, and growth. We’re happy to recommend specific products depending on your kitten’s needs. |
Yes! Stainless steel water fountains encourage healthy hydration and help prevent urinary issues. Many Sphynx kittens prefer flowing water and drink more with access to a clean, circulating fountain. |
We recommend scheduling your first wellness exam within 72 hours of pickup. This ensures your vet can establish care, review health records, and begin their patient history with confidence. |
Absolutely. You’ll receive a printed health summary, full vaccination history, and a vet-issued health certificate to give to your veterinarian during your first visit. |
Priority List members typically choose their kitten between 5–7 weeks of age, once personalities emerge. Selections are offered in the order Priority fees were received, and you’ll be notified when your turn is approaching. |
We offer FaceTime calls, videos, and personality descriptions so you can confidently select your kitten from anywhere in the U.S. We’ll guide you through the decision based on your preferences and lifestyle. |
For the health and safety of our cats and home, we do not offer in-person visits. Instead, we provide videos, photos, and virtual calls that let you see the kittens interact and get to know their unique personalities. |
Yes! You’ll receive weekly updates, including photos, videos, and milestone summaries (like vet visits, personality traits, and socialization progress). We love keeping you involved and connected as your kitten grows. |
Absolutely. We provide kitten preview content inside the Member Zone and by direct email. This includes photos, side-by-side comparisons, and video clips to help you decide. |
Yes! Most families choose based on a blend of personality, color, and gender. We’ll help guide you to a kitten that fits your goals, whether you want a confident cuddle-bug or a laid-back lap cat. |
We consider your application answers, home environment, family structure, and preferences. Our hands-on experience with the kittens helps us guide you to the best match—even if that’s not the one you expected! |
While it’s rare, we’re here to help. We offer transition support, and depending on timing, we may be able to switch you to another available kitten or keep you on the list for a better fit. |
Yes! Many families adopt littermates or a second kitten later. If you’re interested in adopting two kittens, or a Sphynx + rescue companion, let us know during the selection process. We offer discounts and can coordinate joint delivery. |
Of course! While we assign litter names for tracking, you’re welcome to choose your kitten’s forever name. We’ll even start using it during updates if you decide before go-home day. |
Once you choose your kitten, you’ll place your 30% reservation deposit within 24 hours to officially secure your baby. That kitten is then marked as reserved and removed from our public listings. |
We try to keep the selection process moving smoothly for all families. If you need a little more time, let us know and we’ll work with you—though extended holds may require temporarily moving to the next person in line. |
Yes! Sphynx cats are incredibly affectionate and tolerant, making them a great match for gentle children. We recommend supervising young kids to ensure safe, respectful handling — Sphynx skin is delicate. |
Absolutely. Our kittens are raised around other cats and small dogs and are well-socialized before going home. With proper introductions, Sphynx cats often bond closely with other pets and love having a companion. |
No cat is truly hypoallergenic, but many people with mild allergies tolerate Sphynx cats better than furred breeds. They don’t shed fur, but they still produce dander and saliva proteins that cause allergies. |
It depends on the severity of the allergy. We recommend spending time with a Sphynx cat first if possible. Frequent bathing and wiping, along with HEPA filters, can help manage reactions for some allergy-sensitive homes. |
Sphynx cats are gentle and rarely aggressive, but like all animals, they may defend themselves if mishandled. We train our kittens to be tolerant and affectionate, but supervision is always encouraged. |
Yes — especially for homes with children or working parents. Pairing kittens provides companionship, smoother adjustment, and reduces stress when you’re away. We offer discounts and help with bonded pair matching. |
Start with short, supervised sessions in a neutral space. Allow your dog to sniff through a gate or crate. Use positive reinforcement for calm behavior. Most Sphynx kittens adapt quickly and form strong interspecies bonds. |
Yes, but it depends on the individual pet. Sphynx cats are playful and curious, so pairing them with a senior pet requires patience and space to adjust. We’re happy to help you decide if it’s a good fit. |
Teach children to be gentle, quiet, and calm. Show them how to pet the kitten softly, avoid tugging on limbs or tail, and always let the cat come to them. Respect builds long-lasting, affectionate bonds. |
Sphynx cats crave companionship. If you’re gone long hours, we recommend adopting a second kitten or having another pet for company. Otherwise, enrichment, soft bedding, and routine can help them adjust. |
Sphynx cats do well in both adult and family homes, as long as they receive attention and gentle handling. We’ll help match you with the right personality — some are more active, others more laid-back. |
For the health and safety of our cats and family, we do not offer in-person visits. Instead, we provide FaceTime calls, detailed videos, photos, and a highly transparent process so you can confidently adopt from afar. |
No. All kittens are placed as pets only and are spayed or neutered before going home. We do not offer breeding rights under any circumstances to protect our lines, our ethics, and the breed. |
No. Both the $100 Priority List fee and 30%Â kitten deposit are non-refundable. These fees reserve your spot or your kitten and reflect a serious commitment. |
Our contract requires that all kittens be returned to Purradox Sphynxery or rehomed only with our written permission. We are committed to each kitten for life and will help find a suitable home if needed. We do not want any of our kittens to end up in the wrong hands or in an animal shelter. Even if you purchase a kitten from far off we will come to you to get it or pay for its return transport with a trusted courier service. |
No. All potential adopters must complete our Kitten Inquiry Form and be approved before choosing or reserving a kitten. This helps us ensure the best fit and responsible placements. |
Never. Our kittens go home between 14–16 weeks of age to ensure they are fully vetted, healed from spay/neuter, and developmentally ready for the transition. Early release is not allowed. |
No. We do not allow surprise adoptions. The intended adopter must be involved, approved, and prepared for the responsibility of Sphynx cat ownership. We will allow the purchase of gift certificates to help you handle the surprise part in a more creative way. Then let the recipient pick their kitten for the best suited match. |
While we do our best to predict traits based on genetics, we cannot guarantee color, size, eye color, or body type. Personalities and features develop over time, and nature always adds a little surprise! We only breed cats with excellent personalities and we nurture our kittens from birth to be affectionate. We are 100% confident you will love your kitten’s personality. |
No. We do not accept reservations until kittens are old enough to show personality (usually 5–7 weeks). However, Priority List members always get first choice before public listings. |
We’re happy to hold your kitten for a few extra days (up to 1 week) at no charge, but long-term holds may require a boarding fee. Please communicate with us in advance if you need a delay. Anything discussed an approved beforehand is not problem at all. |
Hearts to Homes is a 501(c)3 nonprofit cat rescue operated by Ashley Long, founder of Purradox Sphynxery. We focus on rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming cats in need across Georgia and beyond. |
For every Sphynx kitten adopted from Purradox, we donate $100 to Hearts to Homes to help cover food, medical care, and spay/neuter services for rescue cats and kittens. Your adoption makes a direct impact. |
Yes! If you adopt a rescue cat at the same time as your Sphynx kitten, we will cover the adoption fee for the rescue cat. It’s a wonderful way to give a second chance while welcoming a new kitten into your family. |
Yes. Every rescue cat is spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and treated for parasites before adoption. We ensure they are healthy and ready for loving homes. |
While we primarily rescue domestic cats and kittens. We do not offer our Sphynx cats or kittens through HTH rescue. We keep the 2 entities separate and at separate locations. |
Yes! Visit our Hearts to Homes page to see available rescue cats. We update the page regularly and include details, photos, and adoption info. |
We are based in South Georgia, but we adopt to approved homes throughout Georgia, Florida, the Carolinas, Alabama, and beyond. Transport may be available for out-of-state adoptions. |
Yes! Donations are always appreciated and tax-deductible. You can donate directly via our website or contribute supplies like food, litter, toys, and blankets to support our rescue efforts. |
We do not offer our retired Sphynx cats through HTH Rescue. They are displayed on our Purradox website and we are always able to find the excellent homes.
Like with our kittens, we use an application-based process to ensure good matches. We consider your home environment, other pets, experience, and preferences before finalizing a placement. |
Yes! We’re always looking for foster homes, transport help, and volunteers. Reach out via our rescue contact form to see how you can get involved and support our mission. |
Sometimes! Sphynx cats enjoy warm clothes in cool or drafty homes, especially in winter. While not all cats tolerate outfits, many love soft fleece or cotton sweaters that help retain body heat. |
Look for lightweight, stretchy, breathable fabrics like fleece or jersey cotton. Avoid anything with tight elastic, zippers, or rough seams. Clothing should fit snugly without restricting movement. Make sure to change your Sphynx daily to prevent skin irritation and infections. |
Signs include shivering, burrowing, cold ears, or seeking warm spots. If your home is cooler than 72°F, your Sphynx may benefit from a sweater or heated bedding. |
Yes! All of our kittens are introduced to wearing fleece outfits to help prepare them for colder homes. Your kitten will come with a starter outfit in their goody bag. |
Start with short sessions (30–60 minutes) and increase based on comfort. Remove clothing daily to check for skin irritation or dryness. Some cats wear clothes all day; others prefer part-time wear. |
Kittens typically wear XXS to XS sizes, depending on their age and body type. Look for items made specifically for Sphynx cats or measure your kitten’s chest and length before ordering. |
Heated or self-warming beds are highly recommended, especially in colder months or homes. Sphynx cats love burrowing, and heated beds help maintain their body temperature without clothing. |
Must-haves include:
✔️ Fleece blankets
✔️ Heated or self-warming beds
✔️ Stainless steel bowls
✔️ Scratchers, tunnels, and interactive toys
✔️ Nail trimmers and ear cleaner
✔️ Lightweight, washable sweaters
Many Etsy sellers and boutique pet brands offer Sphynx-specific outfits. We’re also building a recommended products section — and may offer Purradox-branded gear in the future. Stay tuned! |
Yes! Each Purradox kitten comes with a fleece outfit, toy, and a starter blanket with familiar smells. You’ll also receive our Go-Home Guide with accessory tips and brand recommendations. |
Our kittens are raised on Hill’s Science Diet Kitten dry food, free-fed throughout the day. They also receive wet food 2–3 times per day to support hydration and healthy development. |
Leave dry food available at all times and offer wet food twice or three times daily. Sphynx cats have a fast metabolism due to their hairlessness and need steady nutrition to maintain energy and warmth. |
We use Hill’s Science Diet canned kitten food or similar vet-recommended brands. Choose high-quality, grain-inclusive recipes with protein as the first ingredient. |
Raw feeding can be done safely, but requires proper balance and veterinary guidance. If you choose to feed raw, follow AAFCO guidelines or consult a feline nutritionist. We currently do not feed raw at Purradox. |
Typically yes. Due to their high metabolism and lack of fur, Sphynx cats need more calories than furred breeds. Monitor body condition, but don’t be surprised if they eat more frequently. |
Yes, in moderation. Choose healthy, kitten-safe treats with limited ingredients. Avoid artificial colors or fillers. Treats should make up no more than 10% of daily calories. |
We recommend using stainless steel water fountains to encourage hydration and prevent bacterial growth. Many Sphynx cats prefer running water and drink more from fountains than bowls. |
We do not recommend grain-free diets unless prescribed by a vet. Grain-free foods have been linked to heart issues in cats and dogs. Choose a balanced, vet-approved formula instead. |
Our kittens and moms receive Kitty Bloom supplements during growth and nursing. In most cases, if feeding a complete diet, extra vitamins aren’t necessary—but we’re happy to recommend based on your kitten’s needs. |
Keep your kitten on the same diet for at least 2 weeks. If you choose to transition, do so slowly over 7–10 days to avoid stomach upset. We provide food samples to make this easier. |
Yes. Most kittens and young adults do well with free-feeding dry food, as long as they maintain a healthy weight. Always pair with wet food and monitor portions as they mature. |
Watch for dull coat (or dry skin), lethargy, digestive upset, or excessive weight gain/loss. Proper diet leads to soft, clean skin, regular energy, and healthy digestion. Let us know if you need help choosing food. |
Their wrinkles are part of the breed standard and result from a genetic mutation that affects the skin and coat. The more wrinkles, the more desirable in show-quality cats. Wrinkles also help them regulate body temperature. |
Some do — but most Sphynx cats have short, curly, or broken whiskers, and some have none at all! It’s completely normal and doesn’t affect their balance or behavior. |
Their large ears, slanted eyes, defined cheekbones, and hairless bodies give them a look that’s often described as “alien” or “elfin.” Fans of the breed love their exotic, expressive appearance. |
Yes. Without fur, they lose body heat more quickly and often seek out blankets, sunny spots, or even burrow under clothes. It’s one reason they’re such cuddly companions! |
Yes! Like any breed, Sphynx cats can become overweight if overfed. Since they don’t have fur to “hide” their shape, any weight gain is more noticeable. We recommend feeding guidelines and playtime to keep them fit. |
Absolutely! Sphynx cats come in all standard cat colors and patterns, including black, chocolate, lilac, tortie, calico, tabby, mink, and more. Without fur, their color is visible directly on the skin. |
Their skin has a soft, warm, suede or peach-fuzz texture, depending on genetics. Some are more velvety, others more rubbery. Either way, they’re warm to the touch and incredibly soft. |
Many owners say yes! Sphynx cats are loyal, social, and love to follow you around like a puppy. They enjoy routines, attention, and human interaction more than many other breeds. |
Indoor-only Sphynx cats do not need sunscreen. If supervised outside (rare and short trips), use pet-safe sun protection or stick to shaded areas. Never apply human sunscreen — it can be toxic. Be mindful of windows in your home. Your Sphynx can get sunspots from sunning in the window or doorway. You can add uv protection to your windows or clothe your Sphynx to help reduce sunspot development. |
Many Sphynx cats tolerate and even enjoy fun outfits or costumes! Just ensure they’re lightweight, soft, and don’t restrict movement. Always supervise your cat while dressed up. Great for photoshoots! |
Yes! You’re welcome to pick up your kitten in person in Nashville, Georgia by appointment. We’ll coordinate a scheduled time and provide everything you need for safe travel home. |
Yes. We’re happy to meet you up to 2 hours from our location to make the pickup more convenient. This option is popular for families coming from Florida, Alabama, South Carolina, and surrounding areas. |
No, we never ship kittens in cargo. It’s unsafe and stressful for the kitten. Instead, we use flight nanny services, where your kitten flies in the cabin and is hand-delivered to you at the airport. |
A flight nanny is a professional pet transporter who flies with your kitten in-cabin on a commercial flight. They meet you at your airport and hand-deliver your kitten safely and comfortably. We help coordinate trusted providers. |
Cost varies by location and method.
✔️ Ground delivery is $1.25 per mile one direction
✔️ Flight nanny services are generally $500–$700+ depending on your destination and airline routes.
Absolutely! Many buyers choose to fly into a nearby airport (such as Valdosta, Atlanta, or Jacksonville). We’ll meet you at the airport or nearby hotel, and you can fly back with your kitten in-cabin under the airline’s pet policy. |
You’ll need:
✔️ A soft-sided airline-approved carrier
✔️ A small blanket or bed
✔️ Baby wipes or paper towels
✔️ Carrier liner or pad
✔️ Treats or wet food for long trips. We’ll also send you with supplies to help your kitten travel comfortably.
Yes! If you’re adopting two kittens (or a kitten and rescue companion), we can coordinate joint transport. It often saves cost and helps the kittens feel secure with each other during the journey. |
With proper prep, most kittens travel very well. We send them with familiar items to reduce stress, and they’re accustomed to car sounds and handling. We also provide travel tips in your Go-Home Guide. |
Yes! We can deliver to any major U.S. city via flight nanny or work with ground transporters for select routes. Whether you’re in California, New York, or Texas — we’ve safely placed kittens nationwide. |

Delivery fees vary based on distance and method. Ground transport within a few hours is often around $150–$250, while flight nanny services typically range from $500–$800 anywhere in the USA. We can provide a custom quote during the adoption process. |

Definitely. Many families turn their kitten pickup into a mini vacation to Georgia or a nearby city. We’re happy to coordinate timing to match your travel plans and make pickup stress-free. |
We recommend using a secure carrier, soft blanket, and traveling during cooler times of day. If you’re flying in to pick up your kitten, your baby can fly in-cabin under the seat with airline approval. Don’t worry, we’ll guide you through the process. |
Our Sphynx kittens range from $2,500 to $3,500+ depending on the program and traits. Pricing reflects extensive vet care, health screening, socialization, and early spay/neuter. Each kitten is placed as a cherished companion, not for breeding. |
Sphynx kittens require more time, testing, and care than many other breeds. We invest in HCM scans, vaccines, microchips, quality food, and health guarantees. Our prices also include early spay/neuter, daily socialization, and a luxury go-home package. Starting our cattery was over a $60,000 investment and is very expensive to properly maintain. Our kittens come from quality lines and carry excellent genetics. |
We offer three programs to suit different preferences:
🔹 Signature – Traditional Sphynx with longer face, moderate wrinkles
🔹 Prestige – Modern Sphynx with ultra wrinkles and compact muzzles
🔹 Elite DBE – Sphynx with Dominant Blue or Odd Eyes, offered in Classic or Modern style. Each program includes different price points based on rarity and type.
Every kitten goes home with:
✔️ 2+ FVRCP vaccines
✔️ Microchip
✔️ Spay/neuter
✔️ Deworming
✔️ Health certificate
✔️ Goody bag with food, outfit, toys
✔️ Lifetime support
✔️ Donation to Hearts to Homes Rescue
Yes! We offer multi-kitten discounts for those adopting littermates or pairing a Sphynx kitten with a rescue cat from Hearts to Homes. In this case, we cover the rescue cat’s adoption fee. |
No. To reserve your kitten, we require a  30% non-refundable deposit, with the remaining balance due before or at pickup. Payment plans may be available for select situations, depending on timing and litter. |
Our prices reflect the quality of care, health screening, and ethical breeding standards we uphold. While pricing is firm, we occasionally offer discounts on older kittens, retired breeders, or dual adoptions. Aside from purposeful cattery discounts, prices are not negotiable. |
Not always. However, some rare colors (like chocolate, odd-eyed, or dominant blue eyes) and coat patterns (like calico, harlequin, or DBE) may be priced slightly higher due to rarity and high demand. We do not charge extra based on gender alone. |
Yes. Joining the Priority List requires a $100 non-refundable fee. This gives you early selection access, insider updates, and access to our Member Zone—before kittens are released to the public. |
No hidden fees! The only additional cost would be transportation or delivery, which varies by location. We’ll always give you a detailed breakdown in advance. |
We occasionally work with families on custom payment plans, especially if the kitten is still young and there’s time before go-home day. You’re also welcome to use PayPal, Zelle, Venmo, or cash at pickup. |
Yes! Repeat adopters and Priority Members may receive early access to new litters, special offers, and discounts on future kittens. We love building long-term relationships with our Purradox families. |
All of our breeding cats are FIV/FeLV negative, Wisdom Panel Optimal Selection tested, and screened annually for HCM by a certified cardiologist. We take pride in using only cats with clean health histories and pedigrees for responsible breeding. |
No. While HCM DNA testing is offered by some companies, recent research has proven it to be unreliable for Sphynx cats. Instead, we use annual echocardiograms performed by board-certified cardiologists for the most accurate screening. |
Yes. Kittens are vaccinated following a TruFel protocol at 9, 12, and 15 weeks with a combination of TruFel killed and hybrid vaccines. Rabies is given at 12 weeks or later, depending on age and weight. |
All kittens receive multiple rounds of broad-spectrum deworming using safe, veterinarian-approved medications. We start deworming in early kittenhood and continue throughout their stay until adoption. |
We do not perform routine fecal checks unless symptoms are present. Instead, we follow a preventative protocol that includes effective, repeated deworming. If a kitten ever shows signs of GI issues, testing is performed promptly. |
Yes. Every kitten goes home with an official health certificate from our licensed veterinarian. It verifies that your kitten is healthy and cleared for travel and new home transition. |
Yes. Every kitten adopted from Purradox Sphynxery is microchipped before going home, and we provide all registration information with your paperwork. This is an added layer of protection and peace of mind. |
We offer a two-year genetic health guarantee against life-threatening hereditary defects. If a condition is confirmed by a licensed veterinarian and backed by testing, we will work with you on replacement or other resolution. |
Sphynx cats are generally healthy when bred ethically and properly screened. However, the breed is predisposed to HCM, dental issues, and skin sensitivity. That’s why health screening and ethical breeding are so important—and exactly what we prioritize. We recommend yearly HCM scans by a certified Cardiologist, biyearly dental cleaning to maintain dental health and UV protection on windows, sunblock or clothing to protect Sphynx skin from sunspots. You can also purchase flavorless water additives to help with dental health between cleanings. |
Yes. All kittens are spayed or neutered once they reach a safe weight—typically 3+ lbs. This is done before they leave our care to help prevent early puberty and ensure ethical, pet-only placements. |
We feed Hill’s Science Diet dry and wet food, with access to fresh water via stainless steel fountains. Nursing moms and kittens also receive Kitty Bloom supplements for optimal nutrition during growth stages. |
We do not routinely perform blood panels unless a medical concern arises. In healthy kittens, CBC panels are typically unnecessary. However, our vet will perform them if there’s any reason to investigate further. |
We work closely with a trusted, experienced feline-savvy veterinarian, and also refer to a board-certified cardiologist for HCM screening. This team ensures our kittens and breeding cats receive the highest standard of care.
Join the Global HCM Group on Facebook for quarterly clinics in your area for significant cost reductions in screenings. |
Follow our Go-Home Guide, schedule your first vet visit within 72 hours, continue vaccination boosters as recommended, and maintain good hygiene and nutrition. We’re always here to offer guidance and support. |
Our kittens are raised on Hill’s Science Diet dry kitten food with daily portions of wet food. We keep dry food and water available at all times. We also use Kitty Bloom supplements to support healthy growth. |
We recommend free-feeding dry kibble at all times and offering wet food 2–3 times a day while your kitten is growing. Sphynx cats have a high metabolism and do best with frequent access to high-quality food. |
We prefer stainless steel bowls or water fountains, as they are hygienic and encourage healthy drinking habits. Avoid plastic bowls, which can harbor bacteria and cause chin acne in hairless cats. |
Yes! Kittens are litter trained using a traditional litter box with non-clumping litter starting at 4 weeks. As they grow, we transition them to Tidy Cats clumping litter and many are trained on Litter Robots before going home. |
We recommend starting with Tidy Cats clumping litter to match what your kitten is used to. If switching brands, do so gradually. Avoid scented or dusty litters that can irritate sensitive Sphynx skin or eyes. |
Sphynx cats don’t need weekly baths unless truly dirty. Instead, we recommend using a warm soapy rag for light cleaning and reserving baths for big messes. When bathing, use a gentle cat-safe shampoo and keep the room warm. |
Contrary to popular belief, frequent bathing can cause overproduction of oils. We only bathe when needed—about once every 2–4 weeks, or less. Many kittens stay cleaner with warm rag wipe-downs and regular bedding changes. |
Use a soft cotton round and pet-safe ear cleaner to gently wipe away wax and dirt weekly. Never insert anything into the ear canal. Clean only what you can see, and reach out if you’re unsure. |
No. Sphynx skin is best left alone unless there’s a medical condition. Overuse of lotions or oils can clog pores. Stick with gentle cleaning, quality food, and regular bedding changes to maintain healthy skin. |
Our kittens always have access to fleece blankets, self-warming beds, and heated beds during colder months. Providing warm, soft places to sleep is crucial for the comfort and health of a hairless kitten. |
Yes! Kittens are handled daily and raised with other cats, small dogs, and normal household sounds. We focus on creating confident, affectionate, well-adjusted pets ready to bond with their new families. |
Yes, especially in colder homes. We provide each kitten with a starter outfit, but ensure clothing fits properly and is removed regularly to avoid skin irritation. Not all Sphynx cats enjoy wearing clothes—observe your kitten’s comfort. Fleece blankets and heat pads all around the house are treasured items for your Sphynx cat’s comfort. |
We include a Go-Home Guide with your adoption, but recommend having:
✔️ Litter box + litter
✔️ Stainless steel bowls
✔️ Wet and dry kitten food
✔️ Carrier
✔️ Heated bed or blankets
✔️ Nail trimmers and ear cleaner
✔️ Toys, scratchers, and love!
Sphynx kittens are happiest in warm environments between 72–78°F. Always provide cozy bedding, heated pads in winter, and keep them away from cold floors or drafts. |
No. In fact, bathing too often can cause oil overproduction and skin imbalance. At Purradox, we recommend gentle wipe-downs with a warm microfiber cloth saturated in antifungal/antibacterial shampoo weekly and reserve full baths for when your cat is truly dirty. Most Sphynx cats do well with a bath every 2–4 weeks, or even less. |
Use a shallow sink or tub filled with warm (not hot) water. Gently massage in a cat-safe, unscented shampoo, avoiding eyes and ears. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft towel. Keep the room warm and reward your cat afterward to build a positive experience. Churu packets are a great treat during and after bath time so your cat associates good things with water. Remember to always stay calm and gently. After the bath, you can wrap your Sphynx in a warm towel purrito and trim their nails with one paw out at a time. This is an easy way to clean ears post bath as well. Most Sphynx really enjoy getting their ears cleaned which also makes bath time rewarding for them. |
Use a gentle, unscented cat-specific shampoo like Renewed Pet or Veterinary Formula Clinical Care. Avoid human shampoos, essential oils, or anything with fragrances. These can dry out or irritate your Sphynx’s sensitive skin. |
Weekly ear cleaning is ideal. Use a cotton round or soft cloth with a vet-approved ear cleaner. Gently wipe out any visible wax or residue. Never insert Q-tips or go deeper than the visible ear canal. Q-tips may be used on the outer ear crevices that are hard to reach with the cotton round, especially in Elf cats. |
Yes! Sphynx cats build up dark gunk in their nail beds, so weekly nail trimming and cleaning are important. Use feline nail trimmers and gently wipe around the claws with a damp cloth or unscented baby wipe. |
Sphynx cats can accumulate oils on their skin and paws since they lack fur to absorb it. However, our experience shows they stay cleaner when not over-bathed, especially when using high-quality food, clean bedding, and regular wipe-downs. |
A healthy Sphynx should not smell bad. Mild natural odor is normal, but strong or unpleasant smells may signal over-bathing, poor diet, skin infection, or ear infection. Regular hygiene and proper nutrition help prevent odor. |
Gently wipe folds and wrinkles with a warm damp microfiber cloth or unscented baby wipe. Be thorough, especially around the neck, legs, and underarms where oils collect. Clean as needed based on your cat’s skin and activity level. |
Occasional blackheads are common. Use a warm cloth to gently exfoliate, and ensure bedding is washed regularly. Avoid squeezing or applying human acne treatments. If irritation persists, consult your vet. |
Use soft fleece or cotton blankets and wash them weekly. Avoid wool or textured fabrics that trap oil and dirt. Heated beds, self-warming beds, and washable covers help keep your Sphynx warm and clean. |
Yes, as long as they are unscented and free of harsh chemicals. Pet-safe wipes are even better. These are great for quick touch-ups between baths or for cleaning feet, tails, and tummies. We find that a bowl of antifungal/antibacterial soap in warm water with a microfiber cloth work the best at removing dirt, are washable and reusable. |
Gently clean around the nose and eyes with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid soaps near the face. If crusts form around the eyes, moisten and wipe gently. Daily face checks help prevent buildup. |
While they don’t shed fur like coated cats, Sphynx cats may leave behind oil marks on furniture or blankets. Regular cleaning and use of washable throws help maintain a clean home. Change the throws your Sphynx uses to lay on frequently, a few times a week and it will help keep your Sphynx clean and protect other surfaces in between wipe downs and baths. |
Sphynx cats are known for their loving, outgoing, and social personalities. They’re often described as part-cat, part-dog, and part-monkey! They crave attention, follow you around the house, and love to cuddle under blankets or on laps. |
Extremely! Sphynx cats are among the most affectionate and snuggly cat breeds. They seek warmth and connection, making them perfect for those who want a truly interactive and bonded pet. |
Yes. Our kittens are raised with other cats and small dogs, so they’re well-socialized and generally adjust well to multi-pet households. Slow introductions are key, but Sphynx cats often become best friends with other animals. |
When properly supervised, Sphynx cats do great with kids. They’re curious, playful, and patient—making them ideal for families. Just teach children how to gently handle and respect their hairless companion. |
Yes. Sphynx cats are very people-oriented and thrive on companionship. They don’t do well if left alone for long periods regularly. Consider adopting a pair or having another pet for company if you’re gone often. |
Sphynx kittens are playful and energetic, especially in their early months. As they mature, most settle into a relaxed and affectionate temperament. They love interactive play but are equally happy napping on your lap. |
Absolutely. Sphynx cats are highly intelligent and curious. They can learn routines, commands, and even tricks. Many owners report their Sphynx opening doors, fetching toys, or communicating clearly with body language. |
Sphynx cats are often vocal, but not excessively so. They may talk to you with soft chirps, purrs, or meows—especially when they want food, cuddles, or attention. Each cat has a unique voice and communication style. |
Affection varies by individual, not gender. Both male and female Sphynx cats tend to be very loving and people-oriented. We focus on matching you with the right personality over gender preferences. |
Yes, especially with consistent love and attention. Our kittens are raised underfoot and socialized daily, making them confident, trusting, and ready to bond. Many new owners say their kitten instantly becomes their shadow. |
While they can tolerate some alone time, Sphynx cats thrive best with company, enrichment, and routine. If you’re often away, consider enriching their environment or adopting a companion for emotional support. |
Many do! Sphynx cats love warmth and often choose to snuggle under the covers or sleep right next to their humans. Be prepared for a purring, wrinkly bedtime buddy! |
Sphynx cats require regular care, including skin cleaning, ear and nail maintenance, and warmth. They’re incredibly loving, but need daily attention and aren’t a good match for families seeking a low-maintenance pet. They’re not hypoallergenic and do best in indoor-only homes. |
If you’re seeking a close companion, can provide a warm and safe home, and are committed to routine care and vet visits, then you may be ready. We encourage you to read our Go-Home Guide and ask questions before reserving. |
Ask about health testing, HCM screening, vaccination protocol, socialization practices, and what’s included in the adoption. A reputable breeder will be open, transparent, and prioritize long-term health and care of the kittens. |
Yes. Sphynx cats need skin care, warmth, quality food, and regular cleaning (ears, nails, bedding). They’re more high-maintenance than furred cats but incredibly rewarding if you enjoy hands-on care. |

No. All potential adopters must complete our Kitten Inquiry Form before being approved. This helps us ensure every kitten is matched with a loving, informed, and committed home. |
We’ll review your form and reach out to discuss available or upcoming litters. If approved, you’ll be invited to join the Priority List with a $100 fee for early access and updates. |
You can list your preferences, and we’ll try to match you to a kitten that fits. However, we always prioritize personality compatibility and reserve the right to guide you to the best fit based on your lifestyle and home environment. |
You can remain on the Priority List until a matching kitten becomes available. We have litters throughout the year and provide updates on planned pairings, estimated due dates, and expected traits. |
We don’t allow surprise gift adoptions. The person receiving the kitten must be involved in the process and approved, as Sphynx ownership requires daily commitment, education, and proper setup. |
Not at all! We work with families across the entire U.S. and offer safe transport options. Whether you’re in Florida, Texas, or California, we’ll help coordinate delivery or meet you partway. |
Yes! We’re proud of the Purradox family we’ve built and are happy to share past adopter testimonials, social proof, and even connect you with other families if you’d like reassurance. |

✔️ Litter box + Tidy Cats clumping litter

Expect some shyness, exploring, or clinging. Set up a quiet room with familiar items and cozy bedding. Offer food, water, and litter nearby. Keep noise low and let your kitten come to you. Most settle in quickly with love and patience. Don’t introduce to other pets until your kitten has fully settled in, usually after about 10 days. |
We recommend starting in one safe room. Once they’re comfortable, you can slowly expand their space. Too much freedom too soon can be overwhelming. Introduce pets and new environments gradually and with supervision. |
Take it slow. Let pets sniff through a door or gate at first. Use short, calm introductions while supervised. Offer praise and treats for positive interactions. We’ll send more tips in your Go-Home Guide. |
Use a secure carrier lined with soft blankets. Bring paper towels, wipes, and a change of bedding just in case. Avoid letting the kitten out during travel. We provide travel tips in our Go-Home Guide and during your final coordination call. |
While they don’t recognize faces through a screen, they’re often familiar with your voice, scent, or home energy from the bonding process. Most kittens bond quickly once they meet their new family in person. |
A little adjustment is normal. Try offering the same food we used here (Hill’s Science Diet), gently warmed. Add a small spoon of wet food to stimulate appetite. If they don’t eat within 24 hours, reach out for support. |
Yes. A safe starter room helps reduce stress and ensures your kitten knows where food, water, and litter are located. It also allows a smoother transition to your home and routine. Most kittens adjust within 1–3 days. But it is recommended to keep them isolated for 10-14 days to reduce stress and the likelihood of your kitten falling sick. |
We recommend waiting at least one week before giving your kitten a bath, unless absolutely necessary. Let them adjust to their environment first. Use warm cloth wipe-downs if needed. |
Absolutely. We offer lifetime support, and you’ll receive ongoing updates, tips, and check-ins. We’re happy to guide you with litter training, diet, behavior, and general care questions—even years down the road. |

At Purradox Sphynxery, we specialize in three distinctive programs:
🔹 Signature Program – Classic Sphynx with longer face, moderate wrinkles
🔹 Prestige Program – Modern Sphynx with compact muzzles and extreme wrinkles
🔹 Elite DBE Program – Rare Sphynx kittens with Dominant Blue or Odd Eyes, available in both Classic and Modern types
A DBE Sphynx carries a rare gene that produces vivid, icy blue or odd-colored eyes, regardless of coat color. These kittens are part of our Elite Program and are prized for their unique, expressive look. |
Elf Sphynx cats have a similar body and temperament to regular Sphynx but are distinguished by their curled ears, the result of a natural cross between Sphynx and American Curl lines. They’re affectionate, wrinkly, and a bit more whimsical in appearance. |
Yes. Elf Sphynx cats require the same bathing, warmth, skin care, and high-calorie diet as traditional Sphynx cats. We raise them with the same high health and socialization standards. |
We previously offered Bambino and Dwelf kittens but have since refocused exclusively on Sphynx and Elf Sphynx lines to prioritize health and genetic consistency. |
Classic Sphynx have longer faces, softer wrinkles, and a more traditional feline silhouette. Modern Sphynx are short-muzzled, ultra-wrinkled, and compact. We offer both styles so families can choose the aesthetic and temperament that fits their lifestyle. |
Yes! We intentionally produce a wide variety of colors including black, chocolate, blue, lilac, red, tortie, calico, and mink, with patterns such as bicolor, tabby, harlequin, and solid. See our Sphynx Colors & Patterns blog for examples. |
Sphynx eye colors include green, gold, copper, aqua, and blue, with some cats having odd-colored eyes (one blue, one green). DBE kittens always have bright blue or odd eyes, regardless of coat. |
Yes. Due to rarity and genetics, Elf and Elite DBE kittens are generally priced higher and fall under our Prestige or Elite Programs. Full details can be found on our Pricing & Programs page. |
Elf cats tend to be a bit quirkier and more curious, but all our kittens are raised with the same socialization, attention, and affection. Personality differences are more individual than breed-related. |
Yes! Visit our Available Kittens page or browse our blog posts and program overviews for side-by-side examples of Signature, Elite, Prestige, and DBE Sphynx kittens. |
