Why Our Kings and Queens Matter

At Purradox Sphynxery, our Kings and Queens are the foundation of our breeding program, shaping the health, temperament, and beauty of each kitten we produce. As responsible breeders, we take great pride in selecting, testing, and nurturing our breeding cats to ensure that every kitten born carries exceptional traits and a strong genetic lineage.

Health & Genetic Integrity

Every King and Queen at Purradox Sphynxery is rigorously health tested to uphold the highest standards of breeding. We ensure:

  • HCM Screening – Our cats undergo annual hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) scans by a board-certified cardiologist to monitor heart health.
  • DNA Testing – Our breeding cats are genetically tested for hereditary diseases, including HCM, PKD, and other known feline conditions, to reduce the risk of passing on genetic disorders.
  • FIV/FeLV Testing – All of our Kings and Queens are Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) and Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) negative, ensuring the health and safety of their offspring.
  • Routine Veterinary Care – Our breeding cats receive regular veterinary checkups, vaccinations, and parasite prevention to maintain optimal health and wellness.

Temperament & Personality

We believe that a kitten’s personality starts with its parents. Our Kings and Queens are selected not only for their stunning physical attributes but also for their exceptional temperaments. They are affectionate, well-socialized, and thrive in a home environment, making them ideal companions. Our breeding cats are raised in our home, interacting daily with people, other pets, and household activities to foster friendly, confident, and loving dispositions.

Each kitten inherits traits from its parents, so selecting Kings and Queens with the best social and behavioral qualities ensures that their offspring will be sweet-natured, playful, and deeply bonded to their future families.

Pedigree & Breed Standard Excellence

At Purradox Sphynxery, we are committed to preserving and improving the Sphynx breed. Our breeding cats come from champion bloodlines with strong pedigrees that align with the breed standard. Whether from our Classic Sphynx Program, our Modern Sphynx Program, or our exclusive Dominant Blue Eye (DBE) Program, each King and Queen has been carefully selected to maintain the breed’s integrity.

  • Physical Traits – Our breeding cats have the correct skin texture, body structure, eye shape, ear placement, and wrinkling that define the breed’s signature look.
  • Rare & Unique Colors – Our breeding program includes stunning color and pattern combinations, such as black, blue, chocolate, tortie, bicolor, calico, and the rare Dominant Blue Eye (DBE) gene, making our kittens truly one-of-a-kind.
  • Contributing to the Breed – By carefully selecting our Kings and Queens, we work to enhance desirable traits, ensuring that each generation improves upon the last in terms of health, structure, and temperament.

Ethical & Responsible Breeding

Our commitment to ethical breeding means that we follow strict guidelines to ensure the well-being of our Kings, Queens, and their kittens.

  • No Overbreeding – We give our Queens ample time to rest between litters, ensuring their health and longevity.
  • Early Spay & Neuter – We prevent irresponsible breeding by ensuring that all kittens go home spayed/neutered, unless placed in a responsible, approved breeding program.
  • Lifetime Support – We remain committed to every kitten born at Purradox Sphynxery, offering ongoing guidance and support to their adoptive families.

The Legacy of Our Kings & Queens

Each Purradox kitten is a testament to the quality, care, and dedication we put into our breeding program. From their health and temperament to their stunning colors and pedigree, our Kings and Queens shape the future of the Sphynx breed and help us provide families with healthy, loving, and well-socialized companions.

By choosing a kitten from Purradox Sphynxery, you are welcoming a legacy of excellence, love, and dedication into your home.

Do your breeding cats live in your home or in kennels?

All of our breeding cats are raised in our loving, indoor home environment—never in cages or kennels. Each King and Queen enjoys personal space, enrichment, and daily human interaction. They are generally bred once a year depending on the health and needs of the individual cat. We retire our Sphynx between the ages of 4 and 6 years old unless other reasons arise beforehand, we will retire them even earlier. If a queen has difficult pregnancy or is not a good mother, she will be retired. If HCM is detected in the line, the parent will be retired. Communication to us about the outcomes of your kitten’s health is important. We want to know their longevity and any issues that arise as this strongly guides our breeding choices moving forward. Health comes first.

Can I see photos or videos of the parents of a specific kitten?

Yes! We’re happy to share photos and videos of a kitten’s parents upon request. In many cases, past litters from the same pairings are shown on our Past Kittens page. We showcase some of our past kittens on our King and Queen’s individual profile pages. On each kitten profile page, you can find their parent photos displayed.
