Sphynx Cat Adoption Process
Our Sphynx adoption process is designed to be simple, transparent, and supportive. From the initial kitten application to bringing your new companion home, we guide you through each step to ensure a smooth transition. Learn more about how to adopt a loving, well-socialized Sphynx kitten from Purradox Sphynxery down below!
Step 1: Kitten Application
The first step in our adoption process is to fill out our Kitten Application. This is a great opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have, and for us to ensure our kittens are going to loving homes. You can find the answers to basic questions on our FAQS page. We are happy to answer any additional questions you may have once a questionnaire has been completed. Preview our Contract/Agreement here.
Step 2: Choose A Kitten
Once your application is approved, you are free to choose a kitten at any time. After that, we will thoroughly review the terms of our Adoption Agreement and explain the rest of the adoption process. Additionally, we are happy to arrange a video chat, so you can meet us virtually and feel confident that we are real people committed to your adoption journey. This helps build trust and ensures you’re comfortable with every step.
Step 3: Kitten Reservation Fee
After you have selected a kitten, you can secure your choice by submitting a 30% non-refundable reservation fee. This fee guarantees that the kitten you’ve chosen is reserved exclusively for you. As a result, we will no longer advertise the kitten for adoption, which is why the reservation fee cannot be refunded. Additionally, the signed Adoption Contract is required at the time of the deposit. For those opting to pay electronically, please note that additional processing fees, typically around 3-3.5%, will apply depending on the platform used. We accept all major credit and debit cards through Square, Venmo, Cash App, and PayPal, providing flexibility in your payment options.

Step 4: Prepare For Homecoming
Your kitten will be ready to go home at 14-16 weeks of age. By this time, they will have received:
- Deworming
- 2 FVRCP Vaccines
- Rabies Vaccine
- Microchip
- Spay/Neuter
- Veterinary Issued Health Certificate
- Our Parent Cats are tested FIV/FeLV negative, hcmDNA screened and scanned once yearly by Echocardiogram for HCM.
- Kittens will also go home with a cute outfit, blanket, sample bag of food and a fresh bath, ears cleaned and nails trimmed.
Step 5: Time for “Gotcha Day”
When your kitten reaches 14-16 weeks of age, receives all vaccinations, and has been spayed or neutered, it will be ready for its new home. You can choose to pick up your kitten in person or request our hand courier service. We provide in-cabin transport with a dedicated person to ensure the kitten’s safety throughout the journey. Additionally, we offer free pick-up at Atlanta International Airport and can arrange to meet within 160 miles of our home for pick-up.
You must complete full payment before your kitten goes home. Once the kitten has undergone all vetting and is ready for departure, payment needs to be made promptly. Purradox Sphynxery reserves the right to cancel the adoption for nonpayment, and the kitten will become available for adoption again. If you plan to pick up the kitten at the cattery, you can pay in person. For those using our courier service, the full payment is due two weeks before the departure date. Your kitten will come with complete documentation, including vet records and vaccination details.
If you choose to pay electronically, please note that additional processing fees (3-3.5%) will apply to cover platform charges.
We do not send kittens home early. They need time with their mother to learn appropriate behaviors, develop emotionally, and receive at least 2 kitten vaccinations to build a strong immune system. Kittens must weigh a minimum of 3 pounds for spay/neuter and be at least 12 weeks old before receiving their Rabies vaccine. While we understand the desire to receive your kitten as soon as possible, we prioritize the health, proper development, and emotional well-being of every kitten in our care.
